monday CRM makes it easy to keep up with your established contacts and your new leads. While monday CRM gives you the tools to collect your contacts and leads in the platform, we understand that leads can be generated from multiple sources. To help you keep everything centralized, we've compiled this comprehensive guide on importing your contacts and your leads.
Steps
For this example, we're importing existing contacts from an Excel document. Begin by opening your board and then opening the "New contact" dropdown menu. Select "Import contacts" from the menu:
Select the "Browse" button to choose a file from your computer or you can drag and drop a CSV file into the import window:
After uploading a file, you will see a preview of what your import will look like. Because this is only a preview, you won't be able to scroll through the items and columns. You can match each imported column to an existing column on your board. To do this, open the drop down to the right of a column header and select the existing column from the list:
Repeat this step with each column to make sure that all of the imported information is routed where you want it to go. You can choose "Clear selection" to choose a different column. You can also select "Don't import column" to exclude a column from your import.
The next screen will ask you how you want to handle duplicates. You have three options:
Add as new. The "Add as new" option will add all items in your import as new items regardless of whether or not duplicates are detected.
Skip. The "Skip" option will skip adding duplicate items. When you choose this option, you will also select which column to use when determining whether or not an item is a duplicate. For example, you can choose the "Email" column. If you choose the Email column, an item will be skipped during the import if the email address on that item already appears in your board.
Overwrite. The "Overwrite" option will replace duplicate items in your board. When you choose this option, you will also select which column to use when determining whether or not an item is a duplicate. For example, you can choose the "Phone" column. If you choose the Phone column, an item will be replaced by the information in your Excel document during the import if the phone number matches an item that already appears in your board.
When you click "Start import", the import window will close and you'll see a progress bar in the bottom right corner of your board:
When the import is complete, you'll receive a notification confirming that the import was successful:
Note: Only the user who imports the items will receive a notification. You can turn off these notifications by adjusting your board notifications.

Limitations
There are a few limitations to be aware of:
You can only upload one file at a time per board.
You can only upload 100 files per account per hour. At this point, if you try to upload a file, you will receive a notification that you've reached your limit for the time being.
Your imported file must have fewer than 50 columns and 8,000 rows.
Your imported file must be 10 MB or less.
If a column is not matched, it will be added to your board as a text column.
If you are importing to your Leads board and your board automations are active, the status of your imported items will change to "New Lead". If you'd like to avoid this, you can temporarily turn off your automation before importing.
